Position

Overview

: The Applications Engineer II provides advanced technical support for CNC machinery, assisting customers both on-site and remotely. This role involves conducting time studies, machine demonstrations, programming, and process optimization to support sales and post-installation customer success.

Key Responsibilities

:

• Independently manage application engineering tasks while aligning priorities with team and company goals.
• Design and fabricate custom fixtures and workholding solutions for demos, test cuts, and turnkey projects.
• Troubleshoot complex machining and manufacturing processes.
• Complete time studies and machining estimates with a 10% accuracy tolerance.
• Program CNC equipment using conversational programming, industry-standard CAM software, and G-code/macro programming.
• Set up and operate CNC machines, including multi-axis and mill-turn equipment, for testing and demonstrations.
• Inspect finished parts to ensure accuracy and quality standards.
• Generate engineering reports, proposals, and technical documentation for internal and customer use.
• Set up and program coordinate measuring machines (CMMs) for part validation.
• Support pre-sales efforts by collaborating with sales team members to understand and advise on technical requirements.
• Train customers on equipment operation and best practices after machine installation.
• Maintain regular communication with internal technical staff, external clients, and vendors.

Qualifications

:

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering preferred, or equivalent hands-on machining and engineering experience.
• 3-7 years of experience in CNC machining, part processing, and technical support.
• Proficiency in part processing, metal cutting theory, G-code programming, and machine setup.
• Understanding of metallurgy and material behaviors in machining environments.
• Strong multitasking ability and time management skills in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent communication skills with both technical and non-technical audiences.
• High level of adaptability and ability to manage shifting project priorities.
• Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Strong attention to detail, organizational ability, and analytical problem- solving skills.
• Willingness to work full-time with occasional overtime and travel as required.
