We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Sales to lead our sales efforts, cultivate strong relationships, and drive revenue growth while honoring the spirit and story of our historic property. Position
Overview
: The Director of Sales is responsible for developing and executing the hotel's sales strategy to maximize revenue across rooms, food & beverage, meetings, and special events. This position requires strong leadership, creativity, and relationship-building skills to attract and maintain business from all market segments, including corporate, group, leisure, and social clientele.
Key Responsibilities
:
- Develop and implement annual sales and marketing plans aligned with revenue goals and brand identity.
- Drive room and event revenue through proactive sales initiatives, targeted campaigns, and strategic partnerships.
- Identify and develop new market opportunities, including corporate accounts, leisure groups, weddings, and local partnerships.
- Set and monitor measurable sales goals, regularly reporting on results and adjusting strategies as needed. Client Relations & Business Development:
- Cultivate strong relationships with existing and potential clients, wedding planners, and local businesses.
- Conduct site inspections, tours, and presentations, emphasizing the property's unique historic and boutique appeal.
- Negotiate contracts and rates within established parameters to maximize revenue while maintaining brand integrity.
- Represent the inn at industry events, trade shows, and community functions to enhance visibility and reputation. Team Collaboration:
- Work closely with the General Manager, Revenue Manager, and Marketing Team to optimize pricing, promotions, and positioning.
- Collaborate with the Events and Catering teams to ensure seamless execution of group and social business.
- Lead, mentor, and motivate the sales team to achieve individual and departmental goals. Reporting & Analysis:
- Prepare weekly, monthly, and quarterly sales reports identifying trends, performance, and opportunities.
- Monitor competitive market activity and adjust strategies accordingly.
- Manage the sales budget, track expenses, and ensure ROI across all sales initiatives.
Qualifications
:
- Bachelor's degree in Hospitality, Business Administration, or related field (preferred).
- Minimum 3-5 years of hotel sales experience, with leadership experience strongly preferred.
- Proven ability to drive sales in boutique or independent hotels; historic property experience a plus.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
- Knowledge of revenue management principles, CRM systems, and marketing technologies (Delphi, Opera, or similar systems).
- Passion for hospitality, storytelling, and delivering exceptional guest experiences.
