Summary The Director of Capital Markets & Whole Loan Sales will be responsible for executing whole loan sales and other secondary market transactions on behalf of the firm's debt fund and balance-sheet lending platforms. This role focuses on optimizing capital, managing portfolio concentration, and maintaining liquidity through disciplined loan dispositions to institutional investors. The ideal candidate has deep experience in private lending or real estate debt, strong understanding of institutional investors, and a hands-on approach to transaction execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute whole loan and loan pool sales to institutional investors, including banks, insurance companies, pension funds, and credit funds
- Partner with investment, credit, and asset management teams to identify loans suitable for sale based on portfolio strategy, duration, and risk limits
- Prepare and distribute loan tapes, investment summaries, and transaction materials
- Lead pricing discussions, negotiate economics, and structure transactions to maximize profitability along with liquidity
- Manage buyer diligence processes, including coordination of credit, legal, servicing, and collateral reviews
- Oversee transaction execution, closings, and post-sale servicing transitions
- Maintain and deepen relationships with institutional counterparties to support repeat and programmatic transactions
- Monitor market conditions, investor demand, and pricing trends to inform portfolio and capital strategy
- Support broader capital markets initiatives, including leverage facilities, warehouse lines, participations, and structured financings
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Real Estate, or a related field
- 5-10+ years of experience in capital markets, private credit, real estate debt, or secondary loan trading
- Direct experience executing whole loan sales for a debt fund, balance-sheet lender, or financial institution
- Strong understanding of loan structures, credit risk, and collateral performance
- Established institutional investor and counterparty relationships
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and transaction management skills
- Ability to operate in a fast-paced, principal-oriented investment environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience across multiple loan types (bridge, construction, transitional)
- Familiarity with fund-level liquidity management and portfolio optimization
- Experience with servicing transfers and ongoing sub-servicing oversight
- Background at a debt fund, mortgage REIT, specialty finance company, or bank capital markets group What We Offer
