Job Description

: An automotive lot porter is responsible for various tasks that support the daily operations of a car dealership. Their primary duties typically include: 1. Vehicle Management: Porters are responsible for moving vehicles around the lot, ensuring that they are parked in designated areas for display, delivery, or service. This includes repositioning cars to make room for new inventory or to prepare for customer test drives. 2. Customer Assistance: They often greet customers as they arrive, providing assistance as needed, whether it's directing them to a sales representative or answering basic inquiries about the vehicles. 3. Inventory Maintenance: Porters keep the lot organized by maintaining the cleanliness and presentation of vehicles. This includes washing and detailing cars to ensure they are in top condition for customers. 4. Documentation and Reporting: They may assist in keeping track of vehicle inventory, noting any damage or issues that require attention, and reporting these to the appropriate departments. 5. Support for Service Department: In addition to tasks related to sales, porters may also transport vehicles to and from the service department, helping to ensure timely maintenance and repair services. 6. General Maintenance: Porters might perform minor maintenance tasks, such as checking fluid levels, tire pressure, or ensuring that the vehicles are fueled.
