Retail Sales Associate Summary/Objective The Retail Sales Associate's role is to provide assistance and excellent customer service to the visitors of the American Jazz Museum's retail shop and other pop-up shop opportunities. Essential

Responsibilities

• Provide outstanding guest service by greeting and assisting customers with merchandise purchases, museum tickets, memberships, donations and general Museum questions.
• Manage opening/closing procedures including counting cash, providing sales reports and maintaining the shop appearance by restocking, folding, cleaning, and organizing.
• Proactively attain product knowledge to share with customers.
• Oral Communication: Speaks clearly, and persuasively in positive or negative situations, listens and gets clarification, responds well to questions, demonstrates presentation skills, participates in meetings.
• Use observation, insight, and creativity to enhance the customer shopping experience through product suggestions and cross-selling products.
• Assist in floor moves, merchandising, and display maintenance.
• Process and tag new inventory.
• Assist with inventory counts.
• Assist with any website store order fulfillment to include shipping if necessary.
• Suggest new product offerings to Retail Manager.
• Oral Communication: Speaks clearly, and persuasively in positive or negative situations, listens and gets clarification, responds well to questions, demonstrates presentation skills, participates in meetings.

Requirements

• Availability to work a flexible schedule, including weekdays and/or Saturdays and Sundays, based on business needs.
• Ability to accurately handle cash and electronic transactions.
• Comfortable interacting professionally with management, staff, and the public.
• Position involves frequent standing and walking throughout scheduled shifts.
• Ability to move or handle merchandise weighing up to 30 pounds, and assist with items up to 50 pounds as needed.
• Strong organizational and communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Demonstrated experience in retail sales and customer service, with a focus on providing an excellent guest experience.
