Job

Overview

We are seeking a Board-Certified Nephrologist to provide on-site care for Veterans at the Robert J. Dole VA Medical Center. This role includes a scheduled outpatient clinic session weekly and additional on-call coverage as required by the facility.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nephrology consultative care in inpatient and outpatient settings, including evaluation and management of:
• Acute Kidney Injury (AKI), CKD, ESKD
• Fluid/electrolyte disorders and hypertension
• Nephrolithiasis management
• Kidney transplant patient medical management
• Extracorporeal treatment evaluation for poisonings/intoxications
• Prescribe and medically oversee kidney replacement therapy (e.g., hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis, prolonged intermittent and/or continuous therapies)
• Provide timely bedside consults when patients are non-ambulatory; see patients in clinic when appropriate
• Document all care in the VA electronic health record per facility policy
• Participate in quality/performance processes (OPPE/FPPE), patient safety reporting, and follow VA standards of care On-Call Expectations
• Must be available by phone within 15 minutes
• Must be able to arrive onsite within 60 minutes when required
• Call schedule is created monthly by the facility; coverage may include evenings, weekends, and federal holidays

Required Qualifications

• MD/DO with completion of accredited training
• Board Certified/Board Eligible in Nephrology (ABIM or AOBIM); BE accepted for recent graduates (up to ~4 years)
• Active, full and unrestricted medical license in any U.S. state/territory/DC
• Current BLS or ACLS certification
• Ability to speak, read, and write English fluently
• Eligible for and willing to complete VA credentialing and privileging prior to starting Why Join Us
