Sales Manager (Confidential Manufacturing Organization) Position
Overview
A growing manufacturer of engineered industrial products is seeking a Sales Manager to lead day-to-day sales operations while supporting the execution of the organization's commercial growth strategy. This position is responsible for coaching and developing a sales team, strengthening customer relationships, improving sales processes, and driving business growth across established and emerging markets. The ideal candidate is a collaborative leader with a strong sales background, excellent communication skills, and a passion for developing people while delivering exceptional customer experiences.
Key Responsibilities
Sales Leadership
- Lead the daily activities of the sales team by setting priorities, providing guidance, and removing obstacles to success
- Coach and mentor team members through regular one-on-one meetings, performance feedback, and professional development opportunities
- Foster a collaborative, customer-focused culture centered on accountability and continuous improvement
- Help establish individual and team performance goals and monitor progress against key metrics Sales Strategy & Execution
- Support execution of the organization's sales strategy and translate business objectives into actionable plans for the sales team
- Maintain structured sales processes, reporting tools, and key performance indicators to improve visibility and operational efficiency
- Assist with sales forecasting, pipeline management, territory planning, and account development activities
- Identify opportunities to improve sales effectiveness through enhanced processes, tools, and best practices Customer & Business Development
- Build and maintain strong relationships with strategic customers across industrial, commercial, and government-related markets
- Support both direct customer engagement and relationships with external sales representatives and channel partners
- Work closely with customers to understand their needs and coordinate timely solutions with internal teams
- Monitor market activity, customer trends, and competitor developments, sharing insights with leadership to support business planning Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with Engineering, Operations, Product Management, Marketing, and Customer Support to ensure customer requirements are met
- Assist in resolving customer issues while promoting a high level of responsiveness and service
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that strengthen customer satisfaction and sales performance
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering, or a related discipline; equivalent professional experience will also be considered
- 57 years of successful sales experience in manufacturing, industrial, marine, HVAC, or similar technical markets
- Previous experience leading projects, mentoring team members, or serving in a team lead or supervisory capacity preferred
- Strong understanding of consultative selling, customer relationship management, and sales process execution
- Experience with CRM systems, sales forecasting, pipeline management, and account planning
- Proven ability to develop long-term customer relationships and collaborate effectively across departments
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Word
- Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with manufacturer's representatives, distributors, or indirect sales channels
- Familiarity with government, marine, industrial, or engineered equipment markets
- Experience supporting continuous improvement initiatives within a sales organization
