Obie Hospitality is hiring a Group Sales Manager to help launch our newest property ' Gordon Hotel Corvallis ' anticipated to open in mid-2027. This is a rare pre-opening opportunity for a sales professional eager to build something from the ground up. Joining ahead of opening, the Group Sales Manager will be instrumental in establishing the property's group sales foundation: developing the pipeline, building community and market relationships, and positioning Gordon Corvallis as the premier event and group destination in the Corvallis market. This role reports to the Area Director of Sales and will work in close coordination with the pre-opening sales and operations team. The Group Sales Manager is responsible for all group room blocks and group coordination. This is an on-site role based in Corvallis; remote work is not available. PRE-OPENING RESPONSIBILITIES ' Partner with the Area Director of Sales to develop and execute a pre-opening group sales strategy targeting key local, regional, and university-adjacent market segments. ' Work and operate the hotel's pre-opening show room space, conducting tours, meetings, and develop regular programming and events for local visibility. ' Build the property's group pipeline from inception: identify target accounts, initiate outreach, conduct discovery calls and site visits, and advance prospective business toward contracted status ahead of opening. ' Engage with area businesses, chambers, nonprofits, and civic organizations to build brand awareness and establish the property as the community's preferred group venue. ' Participate in pre-opening systems setup and sales process development. ' Attend relevant trade shows, sales missions, and industry networking events in support of pre-opening visibility goals. ONGOING RESPONSIBILITIES ' Conduct regular outside sales calls, prospecting, and community engagement as outlined in the quarterly action plan. ' Uphold the guest service and brand standards of Obie Hospitality in all client and community interactions. ' Continuously identify new business opportunities and pipeline sources within the Corvallis and broader Willamette Valley market. ' Comply with all company policies and procedures for safe and efficient hotel operations. ' Perform additional duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS ' Minimum 2 years of hotel sales experience preferred, at least 1 year required; pre-opening or new-build experience a significant plus. ' Demonstrated success in group or event sales with a track record of meeting or exceeding individual revenue targets. ' Strong written and verbal communication skills; polished presentation and proposal writing ability. ' Self-starter with the ability to build and manage a pipeline independently in an ambiguous pre-opening environment. ' Proficiency with hotel PMS, sales systems (Delphi, Sales Pro, or equivalent), and standard productivity tools. ' Flexibility to accommodate evening and weekend engagements as required by business needs and pre-opening demands.
