About the Role

We are looking for warm, curious, and people-first team members to join our tasting room crew. As a Tasting Room Sales Associate, you will be the face of Thistlerock for our guests guiding them through mead flights, sharing the story behind our farm and our craft, and helping them find their perfect bottle to bring home. This role is ideal for someone who loves hospitality, storytelling, and working in a beautiful outdoor farm setting. Tasting Room Hours

• Spring/Autumn: Thursday 125pm, Friday & Saturday 127pm, Sunday 126pm
• Minimum shift length: 5 hours

Key Responsibilities

• Welcome guests and provide an engaging, informative tasting room experience
• Guide visitors through mead flights; explain our products, production process, and farm story
• Drive bottle and merchandise sales; meet and exceed sales targets
• Process point-of-sale transactions accurately
• Maintain tasting room cleanliness and product presentation standards
• Support farm tour guides and events staff as needed
• Assist with opening and closing duties, inventory restocking, and general upkeep
• Represent Thistlerock brand values in every guest interaction

Qualifications

& Experience

• Prior hospitality, retail, or customer-facing sales experience preferred
• Warm, outgoing personality with strong verbal communication skills
• Genuine interest in craft beverages, local agriculture, or sustainable food systems
• Ability to learn and confidently convey product knowledge
• Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions
• SAFE Serve certification and Virginia ABC Responsible Vendor training appreciated; candidates without these certifications will complete training as part of onboarding
• Reliable transportation to our farm location in Albemarle County
• Ability to stand for extended periods and carry up to 40 lbs
• Must be 21+ with valid ID
• Weekend availability required; flexibility for special events

Compensation

$16$20/hr based on experience, plus tips. Part-time, 830 hours per week. Employee mead and merchandise discount included.
