Job Summary

The function of the Applications Engineer is to provide engineering evaluations and consultations, complete equipment troubleshooting, execute field implementation, and perform field services. This includes working directly with Sales to provide accurate and effective communication with the clients. The Applications Engineer must work closely with design and manufacturing engineering staff to develop consultation solutions and troubleshooting through equipment, procedures, and layouts. Field conditions are often not climate controlled, include extreme weather exposure, and are in direct contact with dirt, grain, and aggregate. Field locations may include hazards such as active mining sites, processing grain facilities, extreme terrain, and dangerous bodies of water. This position requires a high volume of travel and field work. This position will may require travel for 50% or more of any given calendar month.

Duties

• Complete Site Evaluations for SLM Clients.
• Provide direction to Design Engineers and Manufacturing Engineers based on field and client experiences.
• Record all site information using the appropriate documentation.
• Develop equipment consultations including preliminary calculations and equipment lists.
• Operate within the required Timelines established by clients and internal workflow.
• Communicate consultations and evaluations with clients, sales, and engineering.
• Work concurrently with other departments to provide accurate information for planning and resource allocation.
• Schedule site implementation balancing client requirements and availability.
• Complete site implementations and system startup, record and report all field service.
• Provide any troubleshooting required within the scope of work determined by Sales.
• Perform other duties as may be assigned by the Engineering Manager from time to time. Experience
• Bachelor of Science Degree Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering
• 0-5 years engineering design, project management or industrial field experience. Other relevant experience may be considered.
• Must have excellent communication skills
• Ability to coordinate and direct project aspects
• Basic knowledge of the use of hand tools
• CAD skills including the ability to generate 3-D Models
• Understanding of VFD control systems and integration
• Leadership, drive, and perseverance, to ensure the completeness of every evaluation, consultation, and implementation.
