Field-Based / Remote Raleigh, North Carolina Area Travel: Up to 90% The Opportunity An established multi-location retail organization is seeking an experienced District Sales Manager to oversee sales performance and retail operations across an assigned group of stores in and around the Raleigh, North Carolina market. This is a field-focused leadership role for someone who can translate company goals into consistent store-level execution. The District Sales Manager will coach and develop store leaders, drive sales growth, improve profitability, strengthen operational performance, and ensure customers receive a consistently high level of service throughout the district. Although the position is classified as remote, it is not a traditional home- based role. The successful candidate will spend significant time traveling throughout the assigned territory and working directly with store teams. Candidates should reside in or within reasonable proximity to the Raleigh area.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute district-level strategies to achieve sales, revenue, and profitability goals.
  • Lead store managers and sales teams in meeting or exceeding budgeted performance expectations.
  • Oversee the daily sales and operational performance of multiple retail locations.
  • Recruit, hire, train, coach, and develop store managers.
  • Provide store leaders with the tools, direction, support, and accountability needed to succeed.
  • Forecast monthly, quarterly, and annual sales performance for the district.
  • Review sales and operational results, identify performance gaps, and implement improvement plans.
  • Conduct regular store visits to evaluate sales execution, customer service, merchandising, staffing, compliance, and overall operational effectiveness.
  • Foster a culture of exceptional customer service across all district locations.
  • Deliver ongoing sales, product, operational, and leadership training.
  • Conduct performance reviews and provide regular, constructive feedback to team members.
  • Monitor market conditions, industry trends, and competitor activity.
  • Adjust district strategies based on business results, customer needs, and changing market conditions.
  • Partner with recruiting and human resources teams to attract and retain qualified retail talent.
  • Ensure stores consistently follow company policies, procedures, and operational standards.
  • Conduct routine audits and implement corrective action when expectations are not being met.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local laws affecting retail operations.
  • Assist with escalated customer, employee, store, and operational issues as needed.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of five years of retail management experience with a strong emphasis on sales.
  • Previous responsibility for multiple retail locations, a district, or a comparable multi-unit operation.
  • Demonstrated success achieving sales targets and improving business performance.
  • Strong leadership, coaching, negotiation, and customer-service skills.
  • Thorough understanding of retail sales, store operations, merchandising, and performance management.
  • Experience hiring, training, and developing store-level leaders.
  • Ability to interpret sales results, identify trends, and create effective action plans.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office or similar business applications.
  • Experience using CRM, sales-management, reporting, or related business systems.
  • Familiarity with social media, digital marketing, or reputation-management platforms.
  • Ability to work outside standard business hours and on weekends when business needs require it.
  • Comfort managing a demanding travel schedule and spending extended periods throughout the assigned territory. A bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or a related field is preferred. Equivalent leadership and industry experience will also be considered. Travel Expectations This position requires up to 90% travel throughout the assigned district. Travel may include store visits, operational assessments, team meetings, training sessions, performance coaching, recruiting support, and problem resolution. Candidates must be comfortable working from multiple locations, independently managing their schedules, and adjusting travel plans based on changing business priorities.
