Optician Optical Sales Lens Society | Sterling Heights, MI | Full-time Lens Society is a new optical clinic and eyewear boutique opening in Sterling Heights, built around the idea that getting glasses shouldn't feel like a chore. We're combining real clinical care with a retail experience that actually helps people find eyewear they like wearing. We're looking for an Optician who's equally comfortable on the sales floor and in the details of a proper fitting. This is a ground-floor opportunity. You'll be one of the first hires on our team, with real input into how the optical side of the practice runs day to day. What you'll do
- Patient-facing
- Help patients choose frames and lenses based on their prescription, face shape, lifestyle, and budget
- Perform accurate fittings and adjustments so glasses actually feel right, not just look right
- Walk patients through lens options clearly: single vision, progressives, coatings, and add-ons like blue light or transitions
- Build relationships that bring patients back for their next pair, not just their current one Sales and operations
- Run POS transactions accurately, including insurance and out-of-pocket pricing
- Keep the sales floor organized and well-merchandised
- Track inventory and flag when frames need reordering
- Keep patient records current in our EHR (Eyefinity), following HIPAA guidelines
- Lab and technical
- Handle basic optical lab work: lens cutting, edging, and mounting
- Perform minor repairs and adjustments in-house when possible
- Coordinate with outside labs on more complex jobs Team support Work closely with our clinical team so patient handoffs are smooth Understand enough of the clinical side (basic terminology, workflow) to keep things moving without slowing anyone down What we're looking for Retail sales experience, ideally in eyewear or another high-touch retail category Comfortable with optical lab equipment (cutting, edging, mounting), or willing to learn Familiarity with EHR/EMR systems Solid grasp of POS systems and retail math Understanding of HIPAA and patient confidentiality standards Michigan optician licensure preferred, or willingness to obtain it Experience with pediatric or senior patients is a plus, but not required Someone who genuinely likes talking to people and problem-solving on the fly Why Lens Society Get in early at a new practice and help shape how it runs Work in a clean, modern space designed around the patient experience, not a big-box optical counter Room to grow as the practice grows Pay: Based on experience Pay: $16.83 - $25.00 per hour
