Job Description

Mark's Outdoors is seeking a reliable, detail-oriented, and customer-focused Cashier to join our family-owned hunting, fishing, and outdoor retail store in Vestavia Hills. For over 45 years, Mark's Outdoors has proudly served the Birmingham outdoor community by providing trusted expertise, quality products, and exceptional customer service. As a Cashier, you will be one of the final points of contact for our customers, helping create a smooth and positive checkout experience. This role is responsible for processing transactions accurately, assisting with customer questions, supporting firearm compliance procedures, and maintaining a clean and organized front-end area.

Key Responsibilities

• Process customer transactions accurately using the POS system
• Provide friendly and efficient customer service at checkout
• Ensure compliance with all firearm sales regulations and store policies
• Handle cash, credit, and other payment types accurately
• Assist with returns, exchanges, and basic customer inquiries
• Maintain a clean and organized checkout area
• Support sales floor staff during busy periods when needed

Qualifications

• Previous cashier or retail experience preferred, but not required
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Good communication and customer service skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Must be reliable, punctual, and team-oriented
• Must be able to pass required background checks for firearm sales compliance
• Weekend availability preferred Pay: $15.00 - $17.00 per hour
