Job description: Department: Service Reports To: Service Manager FLSA Status: Exempt Location: 8621 Statesville Rd. | Charlotte, NC 28206

Position Summary

: The Semi-Trailer Repair Estimator / Sales Representative is responsible for inspecting trailers upon arrival, preparing accurate repair estimates, and developing customer relationships that drive service revenue. This role serves as a key liaison between customers, technicians, and management by identifying repair needs, preparing detailed estimates, communicating repair recommendations, and actively promoting additional services that support customer uptime and equipment reliability. The position combines technical estimating expertise with customer service and sales responsibilities , ensuring repair opportunities are captured and customer expectations are exceeded.

Key Responsibilities

: Estimating & Service Coordination

• Inspect incoming semi-trailers and equipment to assess damage, wear, and repair needs
• Prepare detailed, accurate repair estimates including labor, parts, and materials
• Create and manage work orders based on approved estimates
• Communicate findings and repair recommendations to customers in a clear and professional manner
• Coordinate with technicians to validate repair scope and timelines
• Source and price parts as needed to ensure estimate accuracy
• Follow up with customers for estimate approvals and revisions
• Document all inspections, estimates, and updates in company systems
• Ensure estimates align with company pricing standards and profitability goals
• Identify additional repair needs during inspections and communicate proactively
• Support insurance-related estimates when applicable Estimating & Service Coordination
• Communicate inspection findings and repair recommendations to customers in a clear and professional manner
• Follow up with customers regarding estimates, approvals, and scheduling of repairs
• Identify additional repair opportunities, preventative maintenance needs, and safety concerns
• Promote additional services, upgrades, and preventative maintenance solutions when appropriate
• Build and maintain strong relationships with fleet managers, drivers, and service customers
• Provide timely updates to customers regarding repair status and completion timelines
• Assist with generating new service business by maintaining strong customer relationships and service quality Operational Support:
• Work closely with the Service Manager and technicians to ensure efficient workflow
• Ensure work orders are clear, complete, and accurate prior to repairs beginning
• Support shop operations by helping prioritize incoming repairs and customer needs
• Maintain a professional and customer-focused approach to all interactions

Qualifications

:

• High school diploma or GED required
• 2+ years of experience in trailer repair, diesel repair, body repair, or estimating preferred
• 2+ years of proven sales experience with a focus in outside sales
• Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of trailer components and repair processes
• Experience preparing repair estimates in a shop or service environment preferred
• Basic computer skills and ability to learn estimating/work order systems
• Valid driver's license required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Ability to identify structural, mechanical, and cosmetic damage
• Solid problem-solving and decision-making skills
• Strong communication and customer service skills
• Ability to prioritize multiple inspections and estimates throughout the day
• Working knowledge of parts, labor times, and repair methods for semi-trailers
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team

Requirements

• Frequent walking around shop and yard areas
• Ability to climb, bend, kneel, and inspect equipment at various heights
• Exposure to shop conditions including noise, dust, and weather
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally Performance Expectations:
