Sales Representative / Estimator Build & Paint Portland is a family-owned residential painting and carpentry company based in Portland's Montavilla neighborhood. In business since 2017, we run three employee crews, take quality seriously, and do not subcontract our work. Last year we celebrated a revenue milestone we had been working toward and finished 18% ahead of the prior year. Adding the right Sales Representative and Estimator is the next step in that growth. The ideal candidate has experience in home-services sales, is organized and self-driven, and is comfortable working independently in the field.

About the Role

This is a full-time, field-based position at 40 hours per week. The majority of your leads will be provided by the company. You are also expected to develop your own pipeline through networking, referrals, and relationships with designers, contractors, real estate agents, and property managers. You will meet with homeowners, assess their projects, deliver accurate estimates, and follow up until you close the business or the lead is exhausted.

Responsibilities

• Meet with homeowners at their properties and assess scope of work for painting and carpentry projects
• Build accurate estimates using our estimating software and deliver them within 2 business days of the appointment
• Follow up on every open proposal at minimum four contacts before marking a lead as lost
• Develop and maintain relationships with trade partners and attend networking and marketing events to build your self-generated pipeline
• Track all estimates and activity in shared reports, updated monthly
• Participate in weekly check-ins with the president to review performance and refine estimating accuracy
• Prior to production, review the project scope of work with the production team to ensure accuracy and clear communication of tasks Skills and Knowledge
• 2+ years of sales experience in a consultative, relationship-based role; home services, construction, or a related trade is a strong advantage
• Follows up without being asked and manages their own pipeline independently
• Professional, personable, and comfortable working directly with homeowners in their homes
• Computer skills sufficient to work in Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, Slack, and ability to learn estimating software
• Applies critical thinking to every estimate, reviews outputs for accuracy, confirms that labor hours and project scope make sense, and does not rely solely on software to produce a final number
• Valid Oregon driver's license and reliable, insured personal vehicle
• Bachelor's degree preferred but not required; track record matters more

Compensation

• Home-based position with daily travel throughout the Portland metro and surrounding areas including Lake Oswego, West Linn, and the West Hills
• $20.00/hour base pay full time, 40 hours per week
• 4% commission on company-provided leads; 5% commission on self-generated leads
• Commission is tied to project completion, receipt of final customer payment, and gross profit performance
• Expected first-year earnings at goal: $70,000$85,000; compensation increases as revenue goals grow in subsequent years
